How to Get Involved

If you live in a targeted riding and want to work with others to help elect a climate-friendly government then please click here to sign on. We’ll do our best to connect you with people who share your concern. We’ll also provide you with tools to help you get the job done.

How to persuade people to vote strategically.

Research shows that the best way to influence voters is to speak with them in person (which is why politicians spend so much time knocking on doors during elections). Community members will consider advice from people they know and respect -- you, their friends and neighbours -- if they know you are sincerely trying to bring about positive change. Here are some ways you can help influence the vote in your community:

  • Organizing events that bring people together to discuss strategic voting and to promote the climate-friendly candidate supported in your riding.
  • Meeting with neighbourhood organisations and community groups (faith groups, groups working on social justice issues, book clubs, walking groups, university student groups, naturalist and outdoor clubs and so on) to discuss your strategic voting effort.
  • Going door-to-door to speak with community members about voting strategically for the climate-friendly candidate supported in your riding.
  • Circulating an open letter signed by concerned individuals and group representatives which encourages people to vote for the supported candidate.
  • Producing and distributing posters and postcards explaining the campaign and the recommended climate-friendly candidate in your riding.
  • Writing an opinion editorial for your local newspaper about the campaign in your riding and the climate-friendly candidate you are supporting.
  • Contacting print, radio and TV media in your riding (journalists, columnists, commentators and talk show hosts) to explain your campaign and your motivations for taking part.

How can voters in each riding choose a climate-friendly candidate to support?

In more than half of the close ridings we've targeted, we're encouraging voters to support the sitting Liberal, NDP or Bloc MPs. In the other ridings we encourage voters to choose an alternative to the sitting Conservative.
